My trip to Lisboa 2022 June. Travel to tourist places, meet close friends, learning Real Estate market, and solving issues.
Lisboa 2022 June – Goals
My goals for this trip were:
- solve some few problems in my Portugal bank account;
- learn more about Real Estate market in the country;
- meet some friends;
- learn more about Europe;
- visit again some nice places I’ve been before.
Note: while Lisbon will be the city name in English, I try, whenever possible, to maintain city names according to how they were pronounced in the native language of the country.
Arriving and Departing
For many Brazilians, Portugal is a good starting point when travelling to Europe.
From Fortaleza, it takes a 7-hour direct flight, which is better than São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Besides that, the common Portuguese language can help when entering Europe and passing the immigration, which was packed this time.
I started this Europe trip from Portugal to Croatia (Primošten) at the beginning of May and came back from Nice at the end, in June.
First things first
I have a bank account in Portugal that was giving me some access problems, due to lack of NIF (Número de Identificação Fiscal – tax number ID) and a local phone number to receive the SMS.
It is always easy when you are close to a bank office. Just a brief visit to solve all problems.
The reason I have a bank account, a NIF, and a local phone number in Portugal is that I am investigating the possibility of living in Portugal in the future.
I believe I fill the requisites needed to migrate and after 5 years living in Portugal, a person can apply for citizenship, opening the doors to all European Union countries.
Meet some friends
I have 2 close friends who were in Portugal, one lives in Coimbra, where I went first, at the beginning of the travel.
The another friend was travelling at the same time in Lisboa, in June, then we have met each other.
Real Estate
As I have plans to maybe live in Portugal in the future, I consider it important to know the Real Estate market.
It is very difficult to rent a place (hard owner demanding and high rent prices), then a real estate purchase is also an option to consider.
My 2 close friends have both properties in Portugal, so I spoke to them to understand how they could afford it.
Tourism
From my last trip to Lisboa, in 2018 November, I’ve already known many tourist places, than at this time, I was just coming back to some places I liked.
What I learned was about June parties that occur in Lisboa, I didn’t know about them.
Conclusion
From the goals I proposed to myself, listed in the beginning, I can say that all was reached.
Portugal continues to be an option to move in the future, but it is essential to consider all costs in relation to the income, as while cost of life is lower than other European countries, the average income (if working there) are lower too, and the rent prices consume a good part of this income.
