A 15-day trip to São Paulo in 2022 November, including visits to Rio de Janeiro and Bertioga to meet friends, study, and travel.

São Paulo 2022 November – Goals

My goals for this trip were, in this order:

  • high school friends reunion in Bertioga;
  • participate in a startup investment course (and networking);
  • solve some business issues in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro;
  • meet some other friends in São Paulo;
  • take travel photos;
  • try to keep my study and exercise routine.

São Paulo 2022 November – Overview

Firstly, at the time of this travel, coronavirus was wide spreading again in Brazil.

This forced my decision to abort one of the goals (meet some other friends in São Paulo) to avoid exposition in public places and protect me and my friends.

Sad, but I hope will be more times in the future.

Another issue was the weather.

São Paulo usually could have all the four seasons in one day, and that was the case this time.

See how the sky is cloudy in the photos.

This travel includes two more short trips, to Rio de Janeiro, and Bertioga, which I wrote in separated posts.

Walking at Avenida Paulista

Let’s start with the travel part and the photos.

I love to walking by Avenida Paulista, which is one of the main streets in São Paulo.

I took the photos during a short business walk, but there were many.

This is the way I took, shown in Google Maps.

It is a very short path (750 meters), between two subway stations (Trianon and Consolação), but full of interesting things.

Shopping Ibirapuera

This is far from Avenida Paulista and closer to Congonhas Airport, in Moema neighborhood.

Startup Investment Club

I enrolled for this course to learn better how to invest in startups.

The course also has a networking potential, as it forms a “club” after it to keep in touch and exchange information with the instructors and other students.

The company which offers the course is CapTable, an equity crowdfunding company, and the course was given at StartSe office.

StartSe is an educational company that is involved with startup ecosystem.

Problems

I found some trouble in this travel regarding one fact that is common to digital nomads.

It was hard to keep my study and exercise routine during the trip, for some reasons:

  • A very tight schedule to do all that I wanted in my goals for a short time available. The solution was to put the most important first, and these studies and exercises, suspended for just 15 days, were not a big problem.
  • I have made 2 trips inside this one (so, time lost in airport and road).
  • I didn’t bring my notebook with me with some of my study resources. To solve this, maybe in the future, I should put some of these resources in the cloud, available from anywhere.

Conclusion

Despite the problems listed in the topic below, I can consider the entire trip as very successful in terms of the goals I defined:

  • high school friends reunion in Bertioga – OK;
  • participate in a startup investment course (and networking) – OK;
  • solve some business issues in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro – OK;
  • meet some other friends in São Paulo – not OK, due to coronavirus;
  • take travel photos – OK, despite the weather;
  • try to keep my study and exercise routine – not OK.

The only one point that has a medium weight in the goals, which was meet some other friends, I have to cancel, but I think the reason was justifiable.
